Bleeding in pregnancy
I'm 26 weeks pregnant with my second child, last ight I had some bleeding. I went to the hospital, they monitored the baby's heart, did a urine test and and an internal exam, then sent me home....they couldn't see where the blood had come from, but there was +4 in my urine (whatever the hell that means!) The blood was bright red, but stopped again almost as soon as I'd noticed it, and hasn't started again since. I wasn't really in any pain, I've had mild period like pains on and off, all the way through this pregnancy and had them last night and again today, so I'm worried that it will start again.
I had to go back today for a fetal echo (nothing to do with last night) which again reassured me that the baby is ok, but I'm not good at just accepting that 'these things just happen' I want to know why? Did I do something to cause this? will it happen again? Is there something I should/could do.......other than to stop worrying, which is easier said than done!
It was so scary at the time, but sounds really trivial now that I've written it down!

I got rushed in and put straight on the labour ward. They found the heartbeat so confirmed that he was ok. Scanned the next day and still bleeding heavily. Baby fine, placenta fine but definitely coming from the womb. I was kept in for 5 days. Went home....week later the same again. Same routine. Went home after 3 days. Few days later same again....decided not to bother going on the third time. Baby born nice and healthy 3.5 weeks early weighing 7ld 4oz.
It can be 'just one of those things'
The consultant told me the day that had I been 30 weeks he would have delivered the baby that night...

When I was 26wks I had a slight bleed one morning and took myself off to the hospital, turned out I had pre eclampsia, my blood pressure was sky high. I had an emergency c section later that day. My little girl weighed 1lb 6oz. she has survived after a poor prognosis and now weighs 8lb 4oz. I certainly dont want to scare u but what I really want to say is this - no matter how trivial, if u r worried then best to get checked out. Im sure the hospital took ur blood pressure, but if u r still worried then I would go back as much as u feel necessary!
T put a little flesh on my answer........the 4+ blood in your urine is certainly not coming from the bladder or kidneys and is clearly a contaminant fro your vagina. Small insignificant placental tears are not uncommon and this is almost certainly the cause of your blood loss.

ummmm that must've been so scary - certainly puts my experience into perspective
boona, that's what the hospital said, that they'd rather I was there ever day and it was nothing, than sit at home ingnoring something important!
Glad to hear that both your children are ok now ummmm and boona, and thanks again everyone for taking the time to answer and calm me down! :)
