If it's anything like here it's all lies - they will put you into temporary accomodation and then will dump you anywhere they like. Why can't you rent a private house?
you would be lucky to get a house, thats for sure! be prepared for any type of property in any area, council houses are like gold dust and the housing list is crammed with all sorts of high needs.
you want to be a teacher with spelling like that???
I know families living in high rises, I would look at renting privately personally
sorry riley but I'm glad you won't be teaching my kids.......

thanks for ur replys, i am going for an interview tommorow at the council and i will see what they say to me, and dont answer my post if you got nothing helpful to say, the way i write doesnt affect being a teacher as its the keyboard on laptop that keeps sticking
I know riley.....that's why I aren't a nuclear physicist.
They will tell you any old rubbish - why can't you rent privately (at leasy you will then get some say in what area you actually live in).
but why did you hit the 'y' key when typing 'replies'?
Just out of interest, what course are you actually starting in September?
It depends on where you live. Council houses aren't that scarce in my area and when I applied for mine I did have a say in where I wanted to live.
are you suggesting you might fair better pretending to be a single parent?
How does a sticking keyboard cause grammatical mistakes?
Being a single parent as opposed to a couple makes no difference on the housing list - its the fact you are being made homeless and have a child that gets you priority. However you may not have much choice in where you live and will certainly have to spend some time in temporary accommodation first - you will have a lot more control if you privately rent.
Oh my god lay off the spelling peeps. I'm guessing if its short notice you will be put whereever they put you. Good luck with your career x
craft I take it your 2nd post was a p1ss take?

Actually Eddie, I'm doing a course to be a teacher, it's a three year degree in Early Years Education with QTS attached so riley may well be doing a similar one, or maybe she's already done the degree and is starting a PGCE or GTP? Also- regarding the spelling; there are likely to be many good teachers who can't spell.
Just to add- Early Years is my specialism, I will be qualified to teach children up to 7 years old.
HI Sophie - my husband (the ex-primary deputy head) can't spell for toffee. He was born in Germany (his dad was in the RAF) and he spoke German for a couple of years and then he learnt to read when he came to England using the ITA (Initial Teaching Alphabet - which is phonetic or something) and he is rubbish at spelling!
