tree memorial

other halfs mum passed away of lung cancer 4 years ago. Her ashes are being kept in the house with his step dad so when he passes they can be buiried together.
This means other half has no grave to go and mourn or put flowers down i wanted to surprise him and get a memorial tree for her with a plaque but
1....does anyone know where to go about doing this?

Sorry - don't mean to intrusive, but are you sure that this his something he wants. Maybe he wants her to be 'around' for when he goes?

It's likely that your local environment office at the council will have a sytem in place for memorial trees to be planted in a local park or nature reserve, they have that here and it is quite popular.

Woodland Trust do a dedicate-a-tree scheme but no plaques or exact location - just a certificate.

call me picky but on the website canary posted, on each of the icons near the bottom of the page, under 'donate one tree' there is 1 tree and under 'donate three trees' there is 3 trees but under ; donate ten trees' there are 11 trees. :-/ how odd.

The cost might vary greatly, depending upon where the tree is to be located. In a small village, for example, the local parish council might be sympathetic to a 'd-i-y' approach, whereby you purchase your own tree (and the guards, stake and ties to go with it) and plant it in a spot of the council's choosing. (A plaque could be obtained from a good quality trophy shop, or similar).

So a sapling planted on parkland, or on the edge of common land, might cost you no more than £100. (Perhaps a tenner for the sapling, the same again for the the stake & guard, £30 quid for a nice plaque and a £50 donation to the council).

However putting a tree in a dedicated memorial forest could be far more expensive. 'Life for a Life' is a registered charity which manages such forests. Their services don't come cheap. The minimum donation to have a tree planted is £495, plus a minimum of £75 for a plaque:
