We introduced the potty at 16 months as that was when our daughter started fetching us nappies. She was in no way trained at 16month but we felt that she was ready to start learning. We just started showing her it/ sitting her on it around nappy changes. She still is trained fully as she still wears nappies at night and sometimes when out. She will however ask for the potty when she needs to go.
So far other than suggesting that she listen to one persons opinion and ignore others you've offered no constructive advice yourself.
How did potty training go with your child/children?
Each and every child is different some train and pick it up early others later the is no hard and fast rule.

Potty training went very well with my 3 thank you. Daughter was earlier than the boys.
Potty training shouldn't take more than two weeks max (I thought I had put this but maybe in a different thread) Holding babies over/on potties is NOT potty training. It's guess work. Babies DO NOT feel the urge to wee/poo until approx 2 years. In modern parenting it is advised to not start potting training before this age.
Most people no longer use terry nappies...which was one of the reasons Mothers held the babies on potties. It was used to decrease wash loads...
There is so much competition amoung Mothers. C'mon...my baby was feeding themself at 14 months..!! Bollix...A baby does not have that hand to mouth coordination at 14 months.
Leave the babies to be babies...If they are ready to be potty trained they will tell you. Fetching a nappy is NOT telling you. It's knowing a routine.
Some people are just deluded...
My daughter was walking at 6 months...lol

ummmm obviously you're speaking from the experience from your children growing up but as it has been said each child is different. What you did with your three children is not basis for dismissing anybody elses methods as being delusional.
Competitive mothers? We're not the ones who have laid down the gauntlet of it having it done and dusted within 2 weeks max. But if it worked for you ...good for you well done have a biscuit.
Our daughter is 23 months old, for the last two or three months she has said to us 'potty' when she has needed to go to toilet, prior to that yes she brought us nappies. No learning the routine about it as we change her as and when required so nappy changes throughout the day were random. We certainly didn't hold her in place on the potty we had it in the room and talked to her about it. After meals we placed her on it but if she got up she got up.

I can only speak from that experience and those of our friends who have children of similar age. Some are potty trained/being trained others are not. Some could talk sooner others later, some crawled from an early age, others went straight to crabbing/walking.
Like I said (though I think I missed the 'not') our daughter is not fully potty trained, she's ok lifiting her skirt and pulling down her knickers but has got the hang of shorts/trousers as its two things to pull down (she normally pulls down the outer but forgets the underwear) we're comparably taking it nice and slow with no trying to rush it over a short period.

The fact is if a child is ready it should take no more than two weeks. I didn't make that up. I was told by the health visitor.
If some Mothers want the hassle of trying before they are ready then so be it. Months of accidents. Silly really. Just so they can say 'my baby was trained at 16 months'. The fact is...they conveniently forget about the accidents.

She was not trained by 16 months never said she was, also mentioned accidents from the start so haven't conveniently forgotten them.
Some sites/books/healthvisitors suggest introducing the potty around 18 months we just did a a few weeks earlier as we noticed that she was showing signs of interest in the process.
Anyway each to their own....

will you all stop. this is the problem with mothers, stop reading the websites, potty training, feeding walking , milestones, every baby is different, enjoy this time with your babies and toddlers, because .. in the blink of an eye these children will be 16 years the first 3 years of your babies life is the best, so a cup of tea everyone. if you are concearned about your baby or child,..........................the health visitor. but well done you mums who gave good advice. good morning !
havd to agree with coobeastie, each child is different and of course they will do it when they want whether that be at 18 months of 2yrs. I dont think its a competition ummm as you said they cant be forced, think its more trying for the convenience of not having to change nappies. I dont know what case you have to rest as i dont belie ve there is a right or wrong if child will do it when ready. X
