A friend has recently split from his girlfrind after 2 years, they have a 1 yr old baby. He moved in with her but has his own house and another property. He didn't contribute to her mortgage, just general living costs. They both have their own businesses which they both had before they met. He is now worried in case she can start making demands on his properties/business etc. He is paying maintenance and has regular access. Any advice greatfully received........ TIA x

Doubtful if it was a short relationship, she is solvent, didn't contribute to the properties he owns or to his business.

even though they have a baby? I know laws have changed regarding 'common law' spouses.
He has responsibilities to the child.

'Common Law' relationships do not really exist.
As long as each others names are not on anything then no...he will have to pay maintenance and that's about it.
Do not exist at all Jack. Never have.
s'what I said...........:o)
You said 'really' lol.... :-)

he is paying maintenance, also set up a trust fund for baby which he pays into regularly. can the ex get access to the trust fund?
depends on the wording of the setup docs
I wouldn't have thought so. Not if he set t up himself. All he has to do is ask the bank though.
