Breech or paranoid?
Hi,
I'm currently 36 weeks pregnant and I had a c-section in Dec 08 due to my daughter being breech. This time, I'm having most of the big movements at the top and to the sides of my bump. Which I've taken to be a good sign. Last midwife visit she wasn't 100 sure that baby was head down, which made me feel really down as I really want to do it 'normally' this time.
Baby gets hiccups a lot and it seems to be very low down, I can them in my bum if that makes sense :o0
I still feel out of breath a lot and my bump is quite hard at the top sometimes, as it was when it was my daughters head last time.
I've been having huge jabs coming out of the right side of my bump for about 3 weeks now which i'm sure must be a foot. But I suppose it could be an elbow?
What do you reckon? Does it sound typical of a baby the right way round?
Am I just being paranoid?
Thanks

at 36 weeks you baby could still spin at any time, i think i was breech at that time and baby still swung back before birth.
have you been offered a late scan to double check following your previous experience?

Hi red, thank you.
Yes, the midwife says she will send me at 37 weeks to make sure, whether she thinks baby is breech or not.
I'm just a real panicker and bit of a control freak really. I think I would just be so dissapointed if I didn't get to have a go this time.
I had accupuncture and tried moxibustion (I think it was even yourself who mentioned that one to me ;o)) and also ECV but she didn't want to budge.

Aww hun there's now way of knowing really is there until a scan. I always used to prod baby and like red could never tell what was what even with the 2nd! Even if baby is breech is there no way they will let you have a normal delivery? If not just focus on the end result and don't worry about what will happen before!
No they really discourage breech births at our hospital. Although they surely must deliver some 'suprise' breech babies.
I brought this up with my MW when I was having my daughter and was met with horror stories of having to... ahem...push babies back in and rush to theatre. So it was never really an option.
Suppose I'll just have to be patient until next week until I'm sent for my scan. Fingers crossed.

ooooh I'm surprised by everyone not knowing which way up their babies were....my 2nd spent most of her time breech, then turned in the last couple of weeks. The consultant was sceptical when I told him she was breech but a scan proved me right!!
I couldn't work out what was a foot/knee/bum etc but when the baby was head down, all the movements were high up and hiccups were low down.
Also disagree with childbirth being overrated - I had an epidural and forceps 1st time round and felt a bit miffed to have gone through 26 hours of labour and then miss out on the last bit.....this time I had a four hour labour got to the hospital waaaay too late for my planned epidural and felt proud as punch to have pushed my little girl out with just gas & air, it was a very strange sensation but so glad I did it
Good luck for your scan, let us know how you get on! x
