grandparents rights????

hi my mother and step father want to take me and my husband to court, i have a 3 and 6 year old, we got papers from the court saying they want contact with our kids, so they have asked for leave of court to get a court order.

my parents are bullies and my step father has a hn1 harrassment order to keep away from us as he keep saying he will beat me up, any advise

Attend court and explain the situation with your parents, take along any evidence that you have to support this. Explain to the court why you think that your parents should not have contact with the children and hope you get a fair judge. There really isn't much else you can do.

Surely the court will take into account the threats of violence. The physical and mental well being of your children should be the first priority. Maybe your mother has grandparent rights, but not her husband.

Do grandparents have visiting right? I didn't think they did.

Mind you what could they do if you moved to Austrailia?
Grandparents have no automatic rights.

If you are called to court then attend and tell them about the court order, I am SURE they can't award rights to someone under an hn1
