Is it true that there is another Star Trek film being considered?

JJ Abrams is apparently working on a new film which will reboot the franchise by going back to the beginning,recasting the iconic roles of the original series and feature the first meeting between Spock and Kirk.

JJ Abrams is the creator of LOST, which is a great success and which may delay Star Trek XI. ST11 is officially in production though and will be a prequel (can anyone think of a book or film prequel that has been any good?).

"Beginnings" doesn't sound very inspiring especially has that would rule out any Next Generation, DS9 or Voyager cast involvement.
