Hi Everyone.  What are your favorite films and why??  Mine is True Romance, mostly because I love Christian Slater and the bit at the end where Patricia Arquette goes "you're so cool, you're so cool...

A dead heat for me - Withnail and I if I want comedy, The Shawshank Redemption if I want drama.

I love 'Educating Rita'. 

Julie Walters is fantastic in it, and Michael Caine turns out his best drunk performance ever!  A real 1980's Britflick...genius.

Oh, and 'The Shawshank Redemption' is pretty damned good, too.

Goodfellas.  Not sure why, just the Mafioso aspect of it all.  The rise and fall and all that.  And some great actors too.  The 'Funny, funny how?' sketch is truly an all time great.

Too many to mention ... but I'll try ;o)

The Godfather: Cinematic classic. Watch! The scene with Michael in the restaurant. Gold dust. I remember being awed when it all pulls together towards the end *No spoiler's here!* And then watch No 2 for that matter. Then watch three to show how good 1 & 2 were!

Rear Window: Just pipping North by Northwest as my fave Hitchcock film. Brilliant if you are nosey like me (don't watch the remake - no point!)

Pulp Fiction: I know the script back to back. Whenever it comes on Sky, I can't turn it off ... hell, I even bought the wallet! ;o)

Withnail & I: The funniest film about nothing at all, and so many lines to quote for the rest of your life!!

Shawshank Redemption: Uplifting, great story but you can watch it time and again. A masterpiece.

Apocalypse Now: Great story, acting -  can watch again and again

(and my controversial entry)

Lost in Translation: Murray is brilliant, Johansson plays her part perfect. People have told me they think this is boring/rubbish. My answer to them ... they didn't get it. I'll watch this film for the rest of my days.

And that's for starters ...

(p.s. I really DID buy the Pulp Fiction wallet! heh heh! ;o)

Lost In Translation is fantastic, I must agree!

My favourite film is either 'The Amazing Mr. Blunden' or 'Star Wars'! :)  I do love Jeunet films too, such as Delicatessen, City of Lost Children, Amelie etc.

One film I only saw yesterday and would highly recommend is 'Run Lola, Run'.  It is original and quite simply one the best and coolest films I've seen in a very long time.

I saw Meet the Fockers yesterday and it's fab, I think it's better than Meet the Parents.  Go see it - Dustin Hoffman is great!

"Rumble Fish". Jumped started the careers of quality actors like Chris Penn, Laurence Fishburne & Nic Cage. Classic Francis Ford Coppola movie

"Gedk" ... I got my wallet off ... EBAY!!! Think it was about 10quid delivered!! I love it, although can cause disgust from parents/adolation from 12year olds (both of which are bad may I add!!) when I <a-hem> whip it out in shopping queues!

And I remembered another film ... Once Upon a time in the West ... I don't like Westerns so much but this is classic!

And "toonmilo" ... well mentioned ... All Back to the Future films ... I toyed with that in my initial answer ... but it's true. Can ... and have watched all three back to back - aswell as the Indiana Jones films too!! Pure class for rainy Sunday's!! 

(Great question Curious79! ... True Romance is a fave of mine aswell - but Pulp Fiction edged it out for moi ;o)
