BBQs...love 'em or hate 'em?
31 Answers
Used to hate them but having gone back to basics and recently bought a proper charcoal one, plus small instruction and recipe book, I have to say I'm converted.
Will be firing it up shortly..gammon, Aberdeen Angus beef burgers and proper sausages, big bowl of salad, bananas with mars bars and hazlenut baileys, plenty of wine and beer, good company, what more could you want on a sunny summer evening??

Slit banana down the length, slice mars bar up and stuff into slit in banana. Add generous glug of hazelnut baileys (or any other tipple of choice). Wrap in foil and put into remains of BBQ while still hot. You will not be disappointed. Optional topping...crushed nuts, maltesers, biscuits.

I quite like a BBQ but when there is usually just two off you and you are true to charcoal it is a lot of effort and a lot of waste too.
If we have friends over and we fire up the BBQ then it will be for a spatchcocked chicken or a butterflied leg of lamb. The whole burger, sausage, drumstick kind of BBQ leaves me cold; too much meat and rarely well cooked.
However giving the weather is about to turn I will not be turning down any invites to a BBQ, so much lost time to catch up on!!!

Love em. Cooked properly with decent food (not Tescos value burgers etc) and with a bit of thought, barbies are as good as anything you'll cook indoors.
Slow cook chicken and baste it with marinade throughout cooking. Cook the burgers (make your own...they're easy) in the flames to get all that fat out, corn on the cob with chilli and lime butter, ribs with sweet sticky sauce.
Having one tomorrow !!!!!
