I love Cloudy Bay but have just been on the Tesco website and no sign of it so obviously too late - such a shame, would have loved to have spent by recent tax rebate on it!

I first tasted Cloudy Bay a few years ago. It was quite simply totally amazing. Majestic were selling it then at around £16 a bottle, but were out of stock when I eventually tried to get some. Later, I read an article by a wine critic, who reported that the original producer had sold the business, and that since then the quality had nosedived. In a blind tasting, no-one had noticed any difference between Cloudy Bay and a £5 wine from Lidl. In view of that, I think I'd like to have a tasting before shelling out £18 on a bottle!

I got some from Sainsbury's about 10 years for £6 a bottle. Must have been a blunder by someone.

But yes, it was snapped up by LVMH and rumour has it the wine's not what it was. So I'd open one bottle now to try it. If it's rubbish I'll volunteer to dispose of the rest of it for you.

Tesco still have a mixed case of 12, including 2 bottles of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2011, for £120.
