The "fizz" in almost all fizzy drinks is carbon dioxide - the component recipies for the rest is generally a "closely guarded family recipe handed down....ya de ya" but comes under the flavourings on the side of the can, other components like glucose, Aspartamine etc are printed on the side.

Inciently I say Almost but the only exception I know of is Murphy's stout which has/had a different gas which I think is either nitrogen or a Nitrogen CO2 mix. Much to the frustration of many publicans.

To add to jake's answer, any 'creamflow' stout, bitter or lager uses a Nitrogen / Carbon Dioxide mixture whether from a gas bottle (for draft beers in the pub) or contained in the 'widget' in the can.
