A bunch of limes

Ah yes I remember that, but I'd think limes would be a bit bitter to do that with, are limes bitter? I've never tasted one.

Very...that's why I said you could look all offended. They are similar to lemons..

You may not want to use them as food, but in a way you can use them to help with food. If you have , say, a pork chop you think may be a bit tired or even slightly doubtful, squeeze limes all over it and treat the juice as a combination of marinade and disinfectant. Leave to soak for at least an hour.
That's one use to which they are put in the West Indies
