I love your impersonation of Rolf there, AP. Excellent! :o)

Craft, I think we've been there but not for a long time. I'll put it on my list to go again. Thanks for the link.
I suspect all Michelin restaurants are ludicrously expensive, otherwise why did they go for such high Michelin standards. £150 ! Think of how many cod & chips lots and pints of bitter one can get for that: and still have change for the bus fare home. I think it's difficult to justify that sort of price for a meal, unless someone else is footing the bill, of course.
The last two times I've been there O_G, I've footed everyone else's bill too ...

... so that kind of worked the wrong way round.
JJ's treat, Old_Geezer...
So it seems. I'll await my invite with bated breath.
O_G ...

You deserve lunch at The Waterside Inn for being one of the rare people who spell "bated" breath correctly!

Jayne, we're booked in for The Manoir on 13th July.

We're taking son and daughter-in-law as an additional wedding present. After much thought, we have decided to eat at The Manoir but stay at a nearby, less expensive hotel. Would love to stay at The Manoir but that'll have to be another time, I think.

Geezer, I know what you mean. It's a hell of a lot of dosh but we don't go away on holidays or splash out on other treats. In fact we're quite frugal, believe it or not, and we've both had a cancer scare lately, so I thought, what the heck, you can't take it with you.
Oh, fab, Mrs C.

I hope it's a nice day for you. After your meal, you can sit on the seats on the lawn, and wander round the amazing herb garden where they grow the herbs they use in the kitchen.

You must tell us all about it.
There are only 4 Three star restaurants in the UK and two of them are in Bray. Very strange.
It's the conjunction of the cullinary ley lines in the Bray area.
I take it the Waterside Inn has no connection to the Fat Duck?
If I lived in the area, I would go to the Hand & Flowers at Marlow where Tom Kerridge is the chef. He does amazing food and featured on the Great British Menu recently as he got a main dish through to the banquet for the second year running. Well done to Tom!!
No, Dave ... no connection.

Thanks for replies peeps. x

Jayne, we won't be able to look round the garden after the meal as we're not eating until 9.00pm. Rather late but that's the only time they could fit four of us in. Maybe they'll let us look round if we arrive early.

Tizzi, I don't live in the area but I might try the Hand & Flowers another time as I have relatives that do.
