Apart from thirst, what are the effects/symptoms of consuming too much salt?

An abnormal amount of salt in the body, "draws up" water from the cells and tissues and brings on a state ...better described as dehydration.

Symptoms start with lethargy, headaches and if this is not rectified goes on to cause seizures and maybe death.

Too much salt intake can lead to muscle cramps, dizziness, or electrolyte disturbance which can cause neurological problems or death.
