Hi all, I come across recipes for foods that are usually 'American' by tradition and they often include cornmeal flour. Having never been able to find it in a shop as it is not the same as corn flour (as I once thought).

Well Jaime Oliver uses such ingredient and says it can be substituted by polenta, and I have used this but I have no idea if this is a good substitute or should I be looking at finding cornmeal flour?

Thank you :0)

Pink-kittens, I really not sure to be honest. I'll have to buy some and see I think.

Cheers both :0)
Cornmeal and polenta are basically the same. Cornmeal *flour* can be made by blitzing cornmeal/polenta in a blender. It all depends on what your recipe is for.
I too think they are the same thing.
