What do you need to feed them to ?
Lions might be a good bet.

Other than that surely the best option is to search for vegetarian recipies and reject those with any animal connection. Veg stew springs to mind.

Lol old geezer...not helping.
Question Author
Canary..you...are a star!! Thank you.

Yes old Geezer..I hear she is very 'preachy' about it too. =(
just glanced at the title quickly and i thought it read'help?..i have to feed a VIRGIN tomorrow night'i was quite baffled.
Question Author
Lol Slinky..I could not possibly comment on that.
It depends what sort of 'formal' gathering this is...you could do a vegetarian chilli with that Quorn mince...or a vegetarian lasagne, or macaroni cheese and a huge salad and fresh bread...
If she's a vegan, don't serve cheese ^
Do you mean macaroni "cheese" with tofu?
Check your sauces and stock cubes..........
Vegetarian cheese ! Widely available in supermarkets....vegans cant eat dairy...
marinate some cubed tofu in soy, ginger, garlic, thread onto skewers with veg and grill, serve with rice or noodles

Apologies for not replying to all you kind people sooner...tried, but failed, 'puter trouble last night and this morning. Have not made up my mind as what to give my Vegan guest thus far...This was supposed to be a few beers, a few laughs, and a slap up meal,... the lady in question is a new girlfriend of a good friend and (despite my initial reactioon) I want her to feel welcome. Thanks again.

*reaction * even.
Open Your fridge before him/her.Say:"All You wanna get from this You may eat.I managed no more & had no time to do this, sorry"
a packet of salt and vinegar crisps
Sorry may be a bit late here but ...

Grilled Mushrooms with Lemon Sauce

Serves 4

450g large button mushrooms
2 teaspoons salt

Sauce

2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
1 tablespoon sake, rice wine or dry sherry
2 teaspoons sugar
2 tablespoons finely chopped spring onions

Sprinkle the mushrooms with the salt and mix well. Put the mushrooms into a colander and leave to drain for 20 minutes. When they have drained, rinse them with water and blot dry with kitchen paper.

Head the sauce ingredients together in a small pan until the sugar dissolves. Leave to cool.

Soak some wooden skewers in cold water for 5 minutes. Thread 3 or 4 mushrooms on each skewer and cook under the grill or on a barbecue. When they are cooked, remove from the skewers, mix with the sauce and serve.

Update:

Well Athley, after much agonising, I drove to M&S to buy the ingredients for your excellent idea, while there, I had a 'Hallelujah' moment when I spotted a Butternut Squash Lasagne..pre packed and ready to cook.My troubles were over.

The evening was great..the lady in question turned out to be lovely and not at all like my very wrong preconceived notions about Vegans. OH, and she did not drink Alchohol...soooo...they left at a decent hour , my partner made up for for her and finished off more than his share of booze..and that left me on my todd as he crawled away to bed.

I have just taken him up 2 Solpadine and a glass of 7 UP......I don't hold out much hope for the rest of to-day.....sigh... xx
I just wouldn't feed one anything, tell him/her to bring their own food, bloody weirdo's.
