I was once told this is a popular beverage in the Tyne & Wear region, served in a pint glass, and comprised of:

One part Guiness

One part Lucozade (traditional, not "Sport").

Is this true?

Poor man's velvet is one part cider and one part Guiness.

Rich man's velvet is one part champagne and one part Guiness
