Ever heard this before?
At Tesco's Fresh Meat Counter today. I see 2 trays of sirloin steak, one bright scarlet, not a speck of fat to be seen except a soggy strip that looks like plastic round the edge, the other obviously well aged, a rich, dark ruby red with marbling running through the flesh. The bright red tray has a ticket - "Special Offer £12 a kilo". No ticket on the other and I think that's got to be "Finest" at twice the price. So I ask the assistant if both trays are the same price. She says "Yes, they're both sirloin. The dark one comes from the male, the lighter one from the female."
So I should worry - I have two beautiful 10oz sirloin steaks for £6.72 - wish I could have afforded to buy the whole tray and freeze them!
