Has anyone come across an insulated product that would keep a pasty/pie warmish in a packed lunch? Plenty of Thermos flask type devises available for liquids, but not much for smaller/flat items. Would rather have something which works than taking pot luck on Ebay! Thank you

I could give an answer where to put it but the post would be deleted ;-)

In the past I've seen insulated bags for keeping things hot, I have a large one for lots of picnic type items myself. I'd be surprised if a google search or two didn't come up with something smaller for you.
I find the best place to keep it warm is in my stomach :-)
just don't let your friends on the building site see it...

have you seen these handwarmers -

One or 2 of them next to your pasty would warm it up in 10 mins?

you just bung them in boiling water to "recharge"
Trouble with keeping pasties/pies warm is the steam makes them go all soggy. If you will be in your car this is ideal:

If you're at a pc this might work

they serve hot naan is foil envelopes! any good?
depends how long you want to keep it warm for - I have always thought food should be hot or cold and that keeping it warm for long periods encouraged all sorts of nasties to develop - maybe that's old fashioned thinking though.
Old fashioned or not I agree with you rsvp, I wouldn't want to keep a pie 'warm' for very long either.

Th 'small truck oven' looks very interesting I might give it a whirl.
Venator, I like the way you assume that anyone wanting a eat a pie/pastie for lunch must be a builder!.....you are however, quite correct in your assumption!!
Great for bacteria.
Good for Andrex sellers.
a veggie pie might be ok, but unless what ever you are using to keep it warm can bring it to a certain temp, a meat pie is just asking for trouble
When I first worked on a building site I asked an old hand what his flask was " It keeps hot things hot and cold things cold - you must get one " he told me . Next time I saw him he asked what was in my new flask " Two cups of tea and an ice lolly " I replied ...
Here in the land that invented the pastie, we traditionally wrap them in oilskins,,.....any thermal bag (including those that keep things cool) works.....and if you think I am mad re what I have said, a thermal bag works to keep the heat from getting in, or conversely the cold. Coolboxes (decent ones) work the same way.
