hi jogger ,I can remember when Beaujolais NDay was big news now it just goes by without a comment , thanks I will look for a bottle today too we like it slightly chilled. How about you?
Some is quite good , some is rubbish, like most French wines It is only drinkable for a couple of months so by the time most Brits get it ,it is past it's best. Go for Noraq's Rioja if you can get it.
how very 80s... it was an annual publicity stunt at the time but it's faded away, possibly when it dawned on people that the wine was seldom worth drinking anyway.
Having said that, I've just bought a bottle of hock when I realised I hadn't tasted any for 30 years. I may shortly be reminded why I gave it up.
I remember when Beaujolais Nouveau races were first introduced with all the attendant hype. What a great marketing ploy, conning the gullible public into paying good money for stuff you wouldn't put on the fence.
Nah - stop it with the snooty pretensions - a lot of wine drinking is about time/place/atmosphere.
Beauj Noov is (often) horrible when 'tasted carefully', but slightly chilled and sloshed back in a crowded bar with some good company it's usually "the dog's bits" .... relax & enjoy xx
