Peter Lehman Wild Card Shiraz is one of those wines that makes you salivate as you open the bottle for the first time and allow the powerful aromas to inundate your senses.

Strong aromas of blackberry and raspberry on the nose, with a hint of fruit compote. On the palate, a really jammy concentration of dark berries, with a hint of vanilla and spice on the finish. At 14.5%, you'll feel very warm indeed after a glass of this magnificent red.

Available in the Co-op for £7.97.

Does benefit from breathing.

That would be my ideal job!
Right, I'm gonna add my two pence worth here.
NoM is correct on her statement that she can tell the difference.
She does know her wines and her grapes. It's quite impressive, and slowly I'm starting to get to know them as well.
Before I met her I could tell the difference between a red and a white and that's about it.
My wine experience consisted of buying the '3 Bottles For £10' offers from Londis with the aim of getting the loose-moralled young lady I was entertaining drunk ;) Beer (specifically bitter) was my tipple of choice.
So there!!!

Don't be so daft, SC!

Supermarket selections are better than they have ever been. That is because folk are demanding better quality.
Dont know what is funny, SC, the Coop is much, much improved, not only in wine but also in food stuffs - should try their bread......

Only trouble is that I am not a massive Shiraz/Syrah fan, though one of the finest wines I have ever had was a Shiraz/Merlot mix and tasted like a world class Bordeaux, a Block 64 from the Longview Estate in the Adelaide Hills, Oz

Have just tried a Te Mata Bull Nose - it was ok but I am not going out of my way to source this. Maybe it is just the "gout" for me, I find the New Worlds like (most) Chardonnays - give me the French wines on these two grapes anyday.
S-C.. back away, you're out of your depth, despite your lovely diving outfit :o)

SC, you should be able to recommend some good German Wines??
Are there any good German wines?

Only teasing - the Scharzhofberger Riesling 09 is delicious and well worth the hunt down (Berry's had some) - it will drink up to the end of the decade and matches a fine white Burgundy.....stunning wine and one of my fav whites recently

DT... There are some exceptional Rieslings out there.

And I am doing nothing to Bob that he doesn't want done to him. ;-)

Some of the Moselles were like that, SC - we used to head to Luxembourg from Brussels for weekends - Nothing like quaffing the wonderfully named "Wormeldange" at the then price of 70p a bottle - in a restaurant/bar and wonderful on a warm summer's evening.
SC - Some of the things she's done too me are only legal in certain areas of Germany (Rieperbahn being the main area!!)
In fact, I'm pretty sure it's several hundred euros extra for the pleasure
I know NoM, I was just teasing......
