Scientists have discovered that coffee in some high street outlets contains as much as three times the caffeine as others. Detailed research revealed this was due to some places using three times as much coffee per single cup. Wow, isn't this exciting......thank goodness for scientists.

The coffee in my office would revive a dead horse.
Ex Costa manager here.... Might have something to do with the fact that some use more 'shots' than others [example small Americano in Costa 2 shots same in Starbucks, 1]...wonder how much they got paid to work it out? I would have done it for half the price!

I'm staggered by the sheer intellectual effort shown by the scientists is working out that more coffee = stronger coffee = more caffeine. Nobel Prize at least.
Love Costa's coffee even have a extra shot in it at times, best cup when need a real boost
Did you know when making tea if you dunk your teabag into your cup of boiling water and then discard water then re dunk in another cup of boiling water youl have taken most of the caffeine out, but youl still have a refreshing cup of tea
Why would you want to do that says mrs 4 shot latte pull me down from the ceiling someone...
Despite the mockery I think it a fair point that the customer should be informed how much caffiene they are getting. With such a massive variation between outlets you can not possibly know for sure. It always tastes strong doesn't it ?

What I was less able to understand though was why the expresso was sometimes containing less caffeine than a cup of instant. Surely one buys expresso because it gives you a fix of caffeine ? (That said I understand the other coffees seem to be expresso with other things added to dilute it, water, milk, whatever, so maybe any concern should be with the other coffee types ?)
I would have preferred the scientists to have discovered why the coffee made in Britain tastes terrible compared with coffee made in America.
