I would say that paella is glorified risotto rice anyway....you might need to keep an eye on whether it was cooked to your specifications. Enjoy
No, they are completely different! Risotto rice you're supposed to stir to make it creamy, paella rice you're supposed to leave it alone so the grains are separate!.Definitely not interchangeable unless you want a risottella.
^ agree with diddly - the outcomes are quite different.
hmmmm risotto...not had that for ages, might make one tomorrow to use all the veggies up..... i would stick to arborio or theres another one (cant remember what its called sorry)
...I use carnaroli....
thats the one ^^^^

I made paella instead. It was delish. Risotto at weekend when i get some proper rice. X
Hi crisgal. Yes, both arborio and, say, arroz bomba (a certain type of paella rice) are visually indistinguishable from one another. I have used arborio in in place of paella rice when the need has arisen.
In response to diddly... The end result varies depending on the way you cook it and not whether you use arborio or paella rice.
Sorry but risotto rice and paella rice have completely different properties - it's nothing to do with the cooking method.
I beg to me differ I'm afraid. I have both in the cupboard and I have used both in paella with the same result.
Probably best not to call it paella if you've used arborio risotto rice.
"Paella" is actually the name of this dish it's cooled in. I always cook my arroz de pescados y mariscos in a "paella".

:-D
Hahahaha....
LOL
Not a real Paella,then NoM...More a fish and shellfish risotto! ;-)
Is a wine only a wine when it's made from grapes...?
If I cook the rice and fish in a paella, using a traditional method for cooking a paella, then to me it's a paella.

Is a fry up not a fry up if the sausage is from Toulouse?
Get Carnaroli Rice, it's better than arborio in Risotto, I use Arborio in puds
