Just thought Samuelcat. Stagecoach are a national Public Bus company. In the title! I'm being very slow tonight!

No 22. the stones are also known as the carles,i know the number of letters dont match but maybe its a mistake.

I've had these answers but yes the number of letters are different, the compiler doesn't normally make mistakes but maybe...?
Are the clues supposed to be in order or random? If the former where do the two 'Taunton' clues stand in relation to each other?

I think the clues are pretty random dzug2.
7. Taunton is between "Cheshire" and "River Severn" and
39.Taunton is between "Wick" and "Dunfermline".

38. Stagecoach - Dick was the highway man who used to stop stagecoaches to rob the rich - this is a bus company which would be used on the route mentioned.
48. Wrexham.
