Dont know aout you lot, but if I can buy a healthier version of a high cal/fat food then I will ie low fat mayo. But the one thing I CANNOT stand is low calorie/fat coleslaw. It is just vile, no matter what version you buy! So coleslaw for me cannot be anything other that the rich high calorie version.

Any other that you think just cannot be substituted?

Man hostage doesn't like low fat coleslaw or mayo either, I don't really mind them. I prefer diet drinks taste wise and always have if I'm having a fizzy drink. Coconut milk should always be full fat though :c)
I don't mind low fat coleslaw or mayo. Fizzy drinks have to be diet. In my opinion butter has to be full fat....those low fat spreadable things are awful lol

I agree, fizzy drinks def have to be diet - they are too sweet otherwise. What about blocks of low fat cheese??
They are fine until you start to melt them! x
The only concession I make is with cream cheese. I cannot detect any difference between regular and low fat. I don't go down the ultra-skinny-low-fat version though - it's whipped water with added white wash!
I'd rather eat a little butter than any amount of substitutes.
Pop has to be full fat full sugar for me.

I don't like shop bought coleslaw or potato salad, so make my own.

I don't think I ever buy low fat!!

Cream cheese as in like Philadelphia? yes I agree, they taste the same.

Try grating low fat cheese as well - looks like sawdust!!
Question Author
Yes I always make my own potato salad too, son wont eat any other lol. And it has to be warm when he eats it.
Yes, I d mean Philadelphia type cheese. And as for 1/2 fat cheddar type cheese, I watched a friend try to make cheese on toast with the evilness, it didn't melt it just got hot and more evil!
If they made a decent low cal wine I think I'd but that.
Go to be full fat cottage cheese, low fat just isn't the same.
Mr Cake will not eat coleslaw, and as there is only the two of us I do have to resort to supermarket versions if and when I get the craving as making my own is not practical.

I picked up a pot of Waitrose ultra-rich or uber-creamy coleslaw and had it with my lunch. It was only when I was clearing up after that I saw the pot contained ~1000 calories. I'm not a calorie counter but that did shake me to the core!

I try to be somewhat more self controlled now.....
I know loads of people who say they cant eat low fat mayo but i can never tell the difference.

In fact im not sure i can in anything.
I find low fat mayo has more of a salad cream taste.
I make my own coleslaw and the low fat Hellmans mayo just does not work in it, it is so watery and makes the coleslaw horrible. Low fat coleslaw in tubs from supermarket IS vile, you are right Smowball! I do like low fat salad cream, and also low fat Philadelphia but hate all low fat drinks I can taste the aspartame. I use Lighter Lurpack butter and that's fine too.
I think i just have no taste buds. Either that or im so greedy that i dont even get a chance to taste the food before its reached my stomach.
Low fat ice cream. I'd rather eat a whole tub of Ben & Jerry's choc fudge brownie than any low fat ice cream. Having said that, their frozen yogurt one is quite nice too.
