Lactose allergic is a different matter all together
cecil, why has your friends been told to try a lactose free diet? Dont forget it is hidden in many, many items, some you wouldn't even think it could be in so if they have to be strict, they must read all labels

This is a lactofree website and has suggestions for cheeses and other substitutes your friend can eat. They are products which are available in the usual supermarkets too.

thank you everyone, i will look up these websites, my freind was told to try a lactose free diet as she had persistant diarrhoea, its just to rule it out, or otherwise, i think, i am surprised she was'nt offered tests instead of putting her through all this trial and error stuff, but what do i know? i'm no Doctor, maybe thats just the way its done, poor soul takes a magnifying glass shopping so she can read the ingredients on everything.
