Pretend you're looking down onto one ideal-sized wedge. Roughly how long is the rounded side? Let's say it's 4cm. Times that by 30 and you have your cake's circumference - in this case, it's 120cm.

To find the radius:

2 x π x what? equals 120cm?

Roughly 19 centimetres in radius, which is 38cm in diameter.

And if you want 45 slices (not 30) but want 4cm thick slices (at their thickest part), you want a cake with a a circumference of 180cm, a radius of 29cm and a diameter of 58cm. That's a big cake! (Half it and get two :)
