Nosha, what extra weight would be in the car? That would be important regarding mileage per gallon/litre.
For costing toll roads I'd suggest a google or other search engine.
It's not going to be cheap but I hope you have a lovely journey and time there.
I don't know the answer to your question, but I would urge you to visit the train station when you get there. Fantastic architecture! Also, do not neglect a visit to Oradour-sur-Glane. You will start to believe in ghosts.
Unleaded petrol near me is 1,65€/litre if that helps. Will get back to you regarding the tollgates but need to know where you're crossing to.
I can't remember which but one of the route planners gives you an average cost.

Perhaps experiment with AA, multimap etc....if you haven't already.

I did Calais to Limoges, using a medium petrol car and it says £76.50 in petrol
Dont think that includes any toll charges which will be around €40
for toll costs:-

Calais to Paris - http://www.sanef.com/
Paris to Vierzon - http://www.cofiroute.fr/

beyond Vierzon, the A20 is toll-free at least as far as Limoges.
Are you going via the portsmouth /caen ferry or via the tunnel?
£20 each way for the tolls wouldn't be to far out.
if you have to worry how much you cant afford it
You will get a good bit of the toll costs back in better fuel consumption and reduced tyre wear.

Thanks all.. that gives me a rough idea to start planning... and saving up.
Think we will have just a suitcase each... and three people per car... and planning to get euro tunnel to calais.
Its going to be a cheapy holiday I hope - as visiting friends who just had their first baby (after thinking they were going to have to try IVF!)... and there are 7 of us going.. so should be a giggle and we can all share costs.
As for 'owdhamer' wow.. what an intelligent post...
"if you have to worry how much you cant afford it"
You obviously have oodles of cash knocking about and never look at a price tag.
Punish me for trying to plan ahead and save a bit each month to spread the cost eh!
Nosha, go, enjoy, have a blast and don't forget to send the AB postcard ☺
nosha i do not have a lot of money but the last holiday i scrimped on was a nightmare.we trawled through brochures to find the cheapest to our cost, i said at the time if cant take sufficient funds we stay at home

well I like to plan ahead to be sure I can afford something before I agree to the trip with 6 others... and dont like nasty surprises...
The gite is half price (mates rates) as we are going to have a working holiday there for some of it... helping refurb the stables and paint the house - then help feed the piglets and chickens and garden... Between all of us sharing costs I reckon it will be about £230 per couple for a 1 week holiday excluding food/drink etc.. BARGAIN!!!
Bon voyage
