I have a load of pork loin chops with a use by date of 30 April - will they still be ok or is it better not to risk it? Thanks

Hi Ratter, I have binned it - don't fancy five little people ALL with upset tummies.
If you've just thawed them out, they should be okay, but if they've just been
sitting in your fridge since you bought them, I'd say bung them. Not worth
going down with salmonella poisoning!

They had been in the fridge since I bought them - in the bin now, pasta for tea instead.
And that's how supermarkets make so much money. It's reckoned that we throw away something approaching 30% of all food we buy. These dates are only a guide. If anything smells OK and it's cooked properly it will be OK.
