Well done Linfield
A crushing 4-1 Irish Cup win over Crusaders, although the result was a tad harsh on the Hatchetmen, meaning that is now six doubles in seven years for DJ's men, an unprecendented run of success in Irish League football. Even Roy Coyle's great side of the Seventies and Eighties couldn't match that, and I would contend that this is the best and most professional set-up ever in the IL. My worry now is that the fans come to expect this level of success every week, and start getting on the team's back when they are having difficult patches, as all teams do.
That aside, well done DJ and all the boys - a great day out in Belfast, and my delayed flight back meant a few extra Guinness in the aiport.

When did you go to see them? I've seen the Blues play many English sides in friendlies over the years, (not to mention Flamenco, Rangers, Moscow Dynamo, Argentina, East Germany and Kenya), but I can't remember WBA visiting Windsor Park, although I was in the Middle East for five years and missed a lot of games, so it's quite possible they did.
Am just planning out the possibilities for my European jaunt and we are likely to face Valletta, B36 Tórshavn, Lusitanos, the champions of Luxembourg or the champions of San Marino. Malta and Iceland are more expensive to get to, so fingers crossed for one of the other three???? It's early July too and, if we make it through, I'll have another trip a week or two later.

Hello Duncer.Just looked up the match in my book of all West Brom knowledge.
We played Linfield on March 3rd 1981 and won 2-0.
Peter Barnes and Bryan Robson scored for the Baggies and the crowd was 8,092.
Had a good season that year finishing 4th..Champions League spot lol.
We also played Linfield in Belfast in 1893 and 1932 but I wasn't around then!
I saw Linfield play in the mid 80's when I went over to see a mate who was studying at the University of Ulster.
You might be able to get a cheap flight to Malta but Luxembourg would be the easiest place to get to..Good luck.
We gave a "Coffee set" as a gift btw made in Staffordshire which was the county West Brom used to be in.

I think old age is having an effect on me as I would have been at practically every game, home and away, back then. It rings a faint bell now, especially the bit about Robson and Barnes scoring, and I reckon I must have been at the game so I'll head up to the loft this afternoon and see if I can find the programme. I can remember games against Everton, Stoke, Wrexham, San Jose Earthquakes, Harleem, Man United, and Liverpool as well.
Will let you know about the coffee set, but I'm sure it is still there as there is quite a collection of stuff in the boardroom.
