We are thinking of possibly going to Sri Lanka towards the end of September. Have any AB's visited this country, could possibly give any advice, especially regarding food. I do not like curry, never eat it, and am concerned about having no other choices for meal times, bearing in mind that if we do go, it will be in a hotel recommended by a leading travel company and probably 3 or 4 star.
The country sounds lovely, beaches wonderful, and wildlife very interesting, it is just the matter of curry that is making me wonder if it would be the right choice.

if you're staying in any kind of tourist hotel there will always be a choice. The usual problem is that you never see local food, rather than that you see too much of it.
When I was in Sri Lanka last year there were always other choices. However the local Sri Lankan food is wonderful and I do recommend that you forget the curry you have eaten in the UK and sample some of their dishes. They use coconut milk a lot in cooking. As it is usually buffet food (kept hot in large, heated, lidded pots) you can sample small amounts of
meat, vegetable & fish dishes.
It is a gorgeous country & lovely people.
