Hi All,

I drink scotch with cola, but want diet cola without aspartame, or a similar low calorie mixer as my weight is rising, but i hate the taste of aspartame. I know this question should be in food and drinks, but looks like no one ever goes there ( probably to pi55ed to answer any questions)
Thanks,
Percy.

A splash of water to get things moving in the glass and you'll not need the cola percy. Enjoy! :)
Percy, you might not like this answer, but if you are trying to lose weight, maybe an idea to cut out the scotch all together, or cut down at least. Calories in alcohol are 'empty calories'. Depends how much/often you drink I guess. Sorry, haven't got a suggestion for low-cal mixers that don't contain aspartame - it's in most reduced calorie foods and drinks!
It's the cola making your weight creep up, nothing to do with the whisky?
I think M&S own brand fizzy drinks now have sucralose (Splenda) instead of aspartame.
Aspartame is a known Cancer causing agent and should be avoided.
Scotch in moderation is ok, but don't get hooked.
What are 'empty calories"?
No nutritional value. Which goes for both the coke and the whisky.
there is only one thing that one should add to a good Scotch.....and it isn't coke. cola, ice, water, ginger ale, soda etc etc - it's more Scotch.
seriously, a splash of water, as suggested by douglas.
Thank you. I'd heard the term once before but hadn't a clue what it meant.
No such thing as empty calories. Calories are just a measurement of energy. They don`t contain nutrients. The fun ones are always the ones that are "bad" for you though!
good grief, can't a chap have a quiet whisky without people telling him it's not nutritious and he might become an alcoholic!
Reminds me of the old song popular back in the 60s in which anything you enjoy is described as, "It's illegal, it's immoral or it makes you fat".
Lol, jno.
I think that was quite scandalous at the time, mike11111111 - the Beverly Sisters got some grief for singing it.

If only they'd been able to sing "It's illegal, it's immoral but it's got aspartame."
indeed, here they are

Well,
Thanks for the replies, I really didn't think scotch was a fattening type item, i was blaming the cola as it has sugar in. I was born in scotland ( aberdeen) so my destiny was to drink whisky. I will go with the sucrose reply, thank you. I must say i assumed drinking whisky was a better bet than drinking beer or wine, a half pint of whisky is blackout, whereas several pints of beer or a bottle of wine would be needed for the same effect ( not that i driink a half bottle of whisky) and the calories in several pints of beer or a bottle of wine must be enormous.
