Cheese in brine? Have i done something wrong?

Hi i woke up this morning and had a craving for olives and feta cheese, i had olives in brine and thought it would be a good idea to chop mature cheddar into chunks and mix them with the olives which i did. Now the brine has became milky as if the cheese is dissolving and the the liquid just doesn't look right.
Is this mixture still safe to eat?
I know it is short term but what i mean is, is there anything in the cheese that maybe affected by the brine causing toxins to form?
Will the cheese in the brine affect the brines ability to keep the olives fresh?
What is the best cheese to do this with?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.yes putting cheese in the brine will (I think) affect its ability to preserve the olives as you will have added cheese particles to the brine which will moulder in the brine and affect the olives. If you want to do it again, drain off some of the brine into a separate pot. It should be okay to eat fresh but you might give yourself a dose of the screamers.
