Leave in the fridge and then cook?

I defrost in the microwave (on defrost setting)
I'd put them in a shallow bowl of cold water in a warmish place.
That is only to do in a hurry - if you have plenty of time just cover and leave to defrost naturally on the worktop at room temperature.
You've left it a bit late so I'd defrost in the microwave, being sure they are well defrosted.
The ideal method is to let it defrost in the fridge. However, if you need to cook it shortly, place the chicken in a bowl of cool water.
I'd also use a microwave defrost. Certainly not in hot water or cooking from frozen. You have to be very careful with chicken. If it's for tonight I'd get fish and chips.
I suggest if you go down the cold water route you place the chicken in a plastic bag and seal before immersing in water.
If you are planning to eat the chicken this evening, then your only hope is to defrost in the microwave.

Ron.
I never defrost in the microwave...it always seems to partially 'cook' the meat...and I'd be very wary with chicken.
Agree pasta, spoils the taste as well.
Having just drunk a bottle of wine whilst waiting for your chicken to thaw out I think you should abandon it and join me!!! Send for a pizza and eat the chicken (thawed out overnight at room temperature) tomorrow!!! xxx
Allowing food to thaw in the fridge is not only "safer", but it also saves you money. The frozen food helps to keep your fridge cool thus saving on electricity. I realize that it's not a lot, but hey, every cent saved is a cent your pocket:)
A few years ago I bought one of those metal defrosting plates, it's an absolute godsend, it'll defrost a chicken breast in about 45 to 60 minutes.
