What is the best way to weigh treacle -must be an easier way than dolloping onto scales - would a tablespoonful weigh an ounce as many other ingredients do? Thanks for any help - just cocked-up a gingerbread and think I didn't get the treacle right.

Put your pan or mixing bowl on your scales, reset them to zero, and away you go!

May I suggest you put the tin on the scales, and dollop from the tin into the mixture?
Can you lower the temp so you can cut it? Or the opposite make it runny,

i always dip my spoon in warm water when using treacle
Coating your spoon or measuring cup in oil helps also----it just slides off.
Can you make me a steamed treacle pudding whilst your at it. My favourite dessert with a nice dollop of vanilla ice cream!! [Please, I was forgetting my manners!]

Cupido4 - wow, haven't made treacle pudding for yonks, made me feel really hungry - and as the gingerbread was like a brick I'd make sure I measured the treacle right !!!
Heat your measuring spoon in boiling water for a few minutes until its really hot, dry the spoon off then then when you use the spoon for the treacle it will leave the spoon completely clean.
you put the spoon in the treacle, wind it round a couple of times and repeat, that is usually enough.
Seriously. The University of Birmingham has developed a treacleometer, or 'micro rheometer' to measure the viscosity or ‘feel’ of liquid based products.

What bloke couldn't have fun with that?
