Ribena Blackurrant Drink

If you haven't tried it, may I recommend Ribena blackcurrant drink. One part of Ribena with 4 parts of water.

Well it's been around since 1936, and I've had plenty. I prefer Robinsons blackberry and Apple myself.

I doubt many haven't tried it. It's a family joke we can only ever have it when we're ill as it used to be pricey!

We used to have it when we were coldy! But we make our own cordial now using currents and berries collected from the wild. Ours is a miracle cure for coughs and colds and keeps us going throughout the winter.

Who knew that Ribena is a registered trade mark of pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline ?

I used to be given it after taking Streptomycin to cure the Tuberculosis I had caught from, my father.

This was in the 50's

The drug was foul tasting and so the Ribena took the taste away. I can't drnk it now though. Yuck.

Ribena is far from new. I was brought up on it as a child. e used to drink it hot when any of the family had a cold.
I remember years ago when they brought out Lembena too. Anyone else remember that? I believe that was in the 1960's.

i also think they have changed the fmula as it is not so dark and fruity and full of blackcurrants as it used to be.

Choc-o-block full of sugar, (mind the kiddies teeth) get the sugar free one & pour it on vanilla ice-cream. Yummy!

ASDA "High Juice" is much better - it has a higher actual fruit content, tastes better, has no f*cking aspartame and is cheaper ...so ner!
