Do you use them or bin them?

Before I went to bed last night I took out of the freezer what I thought was a small joint of beef. Went to the fridge to get it ready to be cooked and it's duck giblets...

Do you use them? If so what for?

potted meat? gravy, treat for the dog or cat.

The cats eating this lot but I have another 4 in the freezer.
Sling them and get that crackling in the oven lol.
Only for making stock. And then the cats get to eat the cooked stuff.

Just boil them up with the normal stock ingredients?

Bin them - certainly not! Good eating in giblets, even if it's only for gravy, then on to the furry people :-)
if you want to make stock with them, you can freeze the stock.
Doh.

Don't throw them - its wasteful.
If you have four more and the liver is there make a small pot of duck liver pâté.
Delicious!
Or just enjoy the pan fried liver.
Stocks or finely chopped/minced and added to chicken soups/stews, gumbo etc.
They make alicot out of them in France. Not my cup of tea though!

Toby, I have no intention of throwing them away, that's why they're in the freezer...I might try the livers :-)

Thanks everyone. I don't usually make my own stock.
You make soup though, so yoour own homemade stock ought to be delish in one. The stock is dead easy to make.

Yes, I do make soup.

Making stock is always something I plan to do but when I have say, a chicken carcass, I never seem to have the rest of the ingredients, so I always end up binning it.
A chicken carcass with a pinch of salt and pepper will still make good stock, better with an onion and a stick of celery, but to just bin it? ........Ummmm!
