Hello everyone,

I am 23 years old, just turned last month and I really need to start loosing weight because I am 6ft 4 and I weigh 16 stone and most of it is fat as I have been lazy for a while. I have now cut all crap foods out of my diet like Pizza and takeaways and chocolate and have started to exercise more and.

I purchased a George Forman and I was wondering if it's healthy to be eating Pork Loin stakes and lamb steaks on there or do I need to cut them out as well?

That's fine. Lower your carb intake.
If you want to eat meat and be more healthy eat more fish and chicken. My OH's dietician said the fewer legs the meat has, the better.
I would think they would be ok as long as you cut any fat off them.
no...the grill does what it says on the blurb. a good way to cook your meat as the fat drains away. make sure you trim your meat to be as lean as possible....and enjoy! p.s. it's easier to clean the grill when it's still warm with soapy water - an easy job x
I don't know about lamb but pork gets very dry on the George. Healthy enough though.
Not so much the meat but the fat on it. Go for good quality lean cuts of meat and maybe go to a butchers or butchery counter in a supermarket where they can cut all the fat off for you.

I love my George Forman grill.

Portion control is important and eating lots of fresh stuff, fruit, veg and salad. I find cutting down on bread helps, I go for wraps and pitta breads and such instead. When I had a bad time with gallstones I went for very low fat foods (prepare to be horrified when checking labels!) and lost a load of weight.

Stay away from fizzy drinks and lots of alcohol, especially beer, and watch the amount of sugar in things as foods which look healthy can be deceptive in large qualities eg orange juice (loads of sugar!).

Thanks for all the advice!

I will be cutting all fizzy drinks such as coke and stick mainly to water or water with low sugar diluted juices. I don't drink alcohol so I won't have to worry about that.
tenrec . so millipede is out of the question then ?
I threw my George foreman grill out as I think it dries meat out and makes it like cardboard. It doesn't just get rid of the fat, the juices also run out of the meat making it tough and tasteless.
Cut out red meat altogether and eat more chicken or fish, just have pork, beef or lamb as an occasional treat.
If I'm going to have red meat I prefer it properly cooked or I'd rather do without.

Can you cook fish on the George Forman, for example, Cod Loin?
As a 6' 4" man @ 16 stone you are not actually that much overweight , grilling lean meat will be good as will increasing your fruit and veg. intake .
I wouldnt be without my george foreman grill. its wonderful. i have the one that has a griddle at the side as well, so no timer. its much better. meat comes off juicy and succulent every time. I use mine about three times a week.
They will be fine to cook on a George Foreman grill. I use mine loads, because it cooks so quickly, and any fat drains away anyway.
Besides sausages and burgers not many meats have that much fat to drain away. If you trim up a piece of steak then it's pretty lean.
A few of the older abers might appreciate this, my mother is terrible for names and calles her gril the George Formby grill because the meat's 'turned out nice again' .

Looking at the fat catcher tray makes me want to be sick, what I have been putting in myself all these years.

You cut out what you need to cut out and retain what you feel you wish to retain having ascertained it won't spoil your weight loss efforts.

I'm sure a grill that drains fat is going to produce food that is less fattening than one that roasts things swimming in fat, but that is not really the main point. The main point is that whatever you eat you can be happy with it, keep on with it without feeling deprived, and that it provides you with all the nutrition you need but fewer calories than you expend.

Work the occasional steak into your normal diet by all means, but don't expect a particular grill to work miracles so you can take in as much energy as you wish without consequences. Do the sums, work out what you can and can't afford to do.
As an older ABer, Iluvspikey's comment much appreciated - LOL.
That which you dislike in the tray happens to have a lot of good flavour and is full of energy. Naturally you'd not want to eat it alone but as part of the steak mmmmmm.....
