Found a really simple recipe for shortbread (only got three ingredients) - are homemade shortbread biscuits easy to make as nice as shop bought ones (because they can be so expensive).
They are both easy and better.
A good tip is to use some semolina or ground rice with the flour.
Watch them in the oven, though, as they can burn easily.
Thanks for that, if thing 1 is still poorly tomorrow we will have a go at them (I've got all the stuff (apart from the semolina) and it will save me taking her to the shops).
Sorry to hear about Thing#1. Hope she feels better soon.
the semolina/rice flour just make it lighter and crispier, so if you don't have them it won't matter.
Happy baking!
Thanks, good tip for next time with the semolina (thing 1 just has a really high temp and is being a bit pathetic - but she's only 4 (and really titchy), no skin of my nose if she stays home for a couple of days).
Yogi, not much chance of left overs with my lot (I will probably make one lot of biscuits, decide it doesn't look enough and make another one (or two)).
Mine don't quite look like shop bought but they tasted lovely (I did double). Make sure your butter is surer soft (I didn't and I had to beat it for flipping ages).
