Is there such a thing as a healthy dessert?
I do like something sweet after a meal but the only dessert I can think of is 'No added sugar' jelly.
Sometimes I have fruit after a meal but I crave for a lot fat. low sugar dessert.
Any ideas?
Ice cream usually has so much air in it that there aren't as many calories as you might think. Slimmers' ice-cream would have a substitute for sugar, too. Try one small slimmers' choc-ice for dessert.
I used to make a compote type thing that my mates who went to Weight Watchers started doing. Stoned plums, cherries, apricots, berries etc, whatever you like really, simmered in a bit of sugar free lemonade until they go soft, serve with some a fat free frozen yoghurt.
meringue nest with creme fraiche and some fruit coulis. Morrisons have started selling frozen smoothie type desserts, which are quite nice and they come in nice diddy little pots with their own lid. Natural yoghurt with a sachet of the Options drinks stirred in, is also quite nice
I struggle too missprim, but my sweet tooth is redusing very gradually. Do watch out for the sugar content in some of the low fat desserts, it can be quite high.
I tend to stick with weightwatchers yoghurts or a satsuma or a skimmed milky drink.
Remember that 'low fat' or 'low sugar' products are not necessarily better. They just replace one 'baddie' with another in order to keep the taste....which is most likely all artificial any way.
I really like the weight watchers frozen desserts - especially the chocolate brownie one. Not healthy really, but I like them as a treat. Alternatively I often make some sugar free jelly and serve it up with some fat free yoghurt (muller/shape etc) and some fruit. i sometimes just pinch a couple of the little one's chewy sweets (haribo etc) - get the sweet kick but just a couple of sweets is better than a full on dessert. xx
