Just Asking For Opinions!!
47 Answers
I've been invited to two weddings at the end of May (not the same day!).
One couple are meat eaters who have provided the option of asking for a vegetarian meal if required. The other couple are vegetarians who insist that all guests eat vegetarian.
I won't say what my opinion is (although you've probably guessed), but I'm getting stick from my wife for stating my thoughts.
What do you think?

I don't have a problem with the vegetarian principles - I will go the wedding and enjoy myself. I do quite like some non-meat food, but my point was that I don't see why I'm not given the choice (cost isn't a problem believe me).
On "Come Dine With Me", vegetarian participants expect to be served with vegetarian food, but they only serve up vegetarian food to the guests.
As I said, don't get annoyed with me (live and let live etc.), but these high-principled veggies happily walk round in leather coats and shoes!

I really don't see what the issue is. Most meat eaters also eat vegetables and other non-meat foods. You will not be forced to eat food that repulses you and you won't starve to death if you choose to eat nothing.
A cheese cob, bit of salad and wedding cake sounds good to me.
You're not paying for the food in any case.

It's fairly obvious this is a one way thing. A vegetarian may hold the opinion that expecting them to cook meat for their guests is being insensitive to them, but when they are the guest expecting the host to cook a non meat meal to cater for them they consider just good manners. The inconsistency being conveniently ignored.
Granted if enough time and thought is made one can get good tasting vegetarian meals, but it's rare enough. One is likely to get lots of unpalatable undercooked veg.

Thanks everyone for your contributions - it was just a talking point and I'm grateful to hear from you - even though most of you disagree with me and are WRONG!!! (Just joking!)
I'm a bit offended with your comment Ludwig - I'm not weird, I just have an opinion. I'm going to the wedding, and I'll eat the food with no comment. I just wanted to hear peoples' thoughts. Nut Roast and Peanu

I meant to say Peanut Salad - here I come. That wasn't a problem - it's the issue of dictating what other people can have as a choice.
I'm obviously out of line with all you modern thinking people. Lets' hope the meat eating people get home from work soon!!
Thanks for the banter folks - don't get worked up about it!
