Not long. Why can't you cover them sher?
That might depend on the filling
about an hour before they start gettin hard and curly
That depends on how many spiders, cockroaches and so on live there. But seriously, bread dries out quite quickly, could you not cover them at least with damp teatowels?

Because I had the 'genius' idea of party food trays to cut down on cost (don't have to buy serving dishes, portion control, etc). Just trying to work out how the party will pan out as there is just me and himself and thirty four/five year olds.
LOL. good luck with that all round sher x

I do have an ace up my sleeve as himself is an ex-primary school deputy head so he is in charge of games. I am in charge of everything else - party bags done (no tat, just sweets) with thank you notes attached, bloody party food trays assembled (took two hours), 50 balloons to blow up and a titchy bit of food prep to do (including 9 pints of jelly). Easy!
The rough rule of thumb is to keep everything below 8C for no more than four hours.
I should have added that a fridge is typically at 5C.
peel the cling film back a grubby fistful at a time.

Mojo ^ sorry, don't know what that is supposed to mean.
Uncover, then cover with damp tea-towels. I mean, just damp, not wet.
They'll last for ages. Then, with a flourish, remove tea-towels and Robert's your Mother's brother.

The food serving things are individual boxes - https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=party+food+trays&hl=en&client=safari&source=lnms&;tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=Oro3UbSOFrCp0AXOrIDwBw&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=1024&bih=672#biv=i%7C5%3Bd%7CHXRWidcvAdGcAM%3A

Ours are the pirate ship (bottom left corner) and the pink princess carriage. Maybe I will just put the sandwiches in just before they sit down to eat (they will be covered until then).
Well they're kids Sherrard, so they're bound to get grubby.
What I meant was, uncover them as required.
It's not "supposed" to mean anything. Don't be so shirty.
Question Author
Sorry Mojo, bit tetchy at the moment, thought you meant I was being a skinflint or something.
WWhy can't their sandwich be wrapped in foil or film, for them to unwrap?
Oh my word Sherrard, no!
I know I am a person of few words, but I'm a kind soul at heart.
I thought I was being funny, but Jo Brand got the looks anyway.

I didn't want anyone thinking I was being mean because I said about keeping costs down and portion control - doesn't sound like much of a fun party! (Said I was being tetchy at the moment, x)
