'food To Share' At Restaurants

I hate it!
I want my own food on my own plate, thank you very much. When did this trend for sharing a pudding start?
I can understand, perhaps, a mixture of finger food so each can have a taste of different things but share one pudding in one bowl? Never.

They give you two spoons to share it. I first experienced this in Italy 4 years ago when my husband ordered a dessert and I didn't and they brought two spoons. In France they now do a 'Café gourmandise' which are miniature desserts served with coffee so you get a taste at different desserts but they're individual so no picking into the same bowl.
