Well I've just had one for dinner. I was feeling lazy and I had it in a hamper I won in a raffle. I think the last time I had one was about 30 years ago. The pastry was quite nice and the gravy, but I had to search for the meat, and I did wonder about its provenance.

look, our entire office has given over on the greggs steak bakes, no wonder their profits hit the skid

Whereabouts giveup?
Question Author
I live in Axminster (carpets and Hugh Fearnley whatsit)
You can certainly buy them in Devon, in Pound store for £1.00 and elsewhere for £1.75, the pastry always cooks perefectly on top but the residue is URGH. There must be one tablespoonful of filling, but husband loves them! (He is welcome to it!) They were certainly around many many years ago too.
