I'd suspect a 'tongue in cheek' suggestion. But who knows ....
If it is still the case you are having issues, did you try the run for a bit suggestion ? How is the water at your neigbours ? If theirs is fine then it might suggest something in your tank or pipes. If theirs is also problematic then you could contat the water board as a group.
I have just answered your other question about pH. Scottish water is low pH , that is why you get the peat stain in some areas. But it will still be around 5.5
You could try one of those water filters , get one with charcoal which will remove colour and odour . Would work better than trying to increase the pH.
Thanks EDDIE51 -We don't generally get any discolouration here and the 'damp dog' smell has declined- maybe because I now run the tap for longer before drinking....Thanks too to all other posts!
