Bought a couple of packets of this yesterday. As I was packing them away it struck me that they weren't as big as they used to be. Is this an example of Wagon Wheel syndrome where you imagine foods from a while back came in much bigger servings?

sandy, everything seems smaller now, id like to know where the chocolate has gone from mcvities chocolate digestives. !!!!!!!

Everything doesn't 'seem' smaller, everything 'is' smaller.

I remember when you bought a packet of crisps and actually had a packet of crisps...not just 1/3 a packet and a rake of air.
Packet goods are getting smaller everywhere. It's the devious Company's way of putting up prices "invisibly".
Of course if you bought liver, onions and potatoes rather than a ready meal (a) you could choose the portion size and (b) it would be loads cheaper.

supermarkets call it downsizing make the item smaller and put the price up!

Liver takes just a few minutes to cook. As does bacon. Invest in a potato ricer and you don't even have to peel them to get perfect mash.

I already have a signature dish. M&S 'British Medley vegetables, steamed, boiled potatoes, and salmon. Nice though it is I'm starting to get sick of the same thing nearly every night.
Why don't you go on a cookery course?

Agree with ummmm sandy. buy a good cookery book for beginners to start with and just follow the instructions. This one should be good

Yep...and it's actually a great book.

Eggs are one of the hardest things to perfect.

Ummmm and I could always come over and give you a few lessons.

once you have a few basics cooking from scratch isn;t difficult and can be really quick - i can do steamed salmon and veggies, just as quick as a micro meal, with no preservatives :-)

Good of you to offer but I think I've learnt my lesson. If I was at liberty I'd like to find an isolated place somewhere on the far west coast of Donegal where nobody knew me and no more relatives could drop in unexpectedly and stay and stay.
