Brits Abroad -Why Do Some People Have To Show Themselves Up?

We stayed at a quiet lovely hotel on Zakynthos last week. There were a couple of well-behaved french children, some middle-aged scottich people and quite a few eastern european couples. Everyone was nice, demure, respectful. Come Saturday, start of UK school holidays we get the influx of Brits abroad-noisy uncontrolled kids dive bombing into the pool, fat women squeezed into size 20 bikinis (they really should not make bikinis above size 14) getting their tits out and flopping all over the place - wobbly fat-bellied tattooed men swilling beer all day. Why do some Brits act so common when they are abroad?

Sorry all for your fight, but op has a point. Brits abroad have a terrible reputation, for certain groups and ages. Thats not just about being judgemental, its about boundaries and acceptable behaviour. You may have an issue with the authenticity of the poster (I cant understand this troll hunting) but the point is that we do have a terrible reputation abroad...

Because some are common.
Because they are on holiday (that they have paid for) and are having a good time and enjoying being with thier families? Maybe ou should have paid more and stayed somewhere a bit more exclusive?

Because they have no style
or pride
Agree with Tilly, because they're like that at home.
isn't that where excel's gone on holiday??

Certainly is sloopy, his mankini will go down a treat!
o dear ;)
The Scottish school holidays have been on for a good few weeks. :-)
Mr BM will love you - separating the Scottish from the Brits. ;)
He'll never get on the water slide. It will be jam-packed with kids.

sherrak we were at a five star hotel apartment complex, book price 160 euros a night -not exactly butlins holiday camp.

yes apparently excell was or maybe still is, staying just down the road from where we were . It will be interesting to see what he thought of the place.
You're in Zakynthos, maybe that's a factor
I'm not joining in on the bikini issue but I would relate an experience a few years ago when we booked at an adults only hotel. However, it was only adults only from our travel company, the Italian companies used it as a family hotel and those Italian children made our holiday hell. Lots of British children are badly behaved at home and abroad, but f we think other nationalities are perfect, we delude ourselves.
As usual you are stereotyping people hoping to get others' backs up. People are allowed to enjoy themselves regardless of size and they paid the same money to be there as you did. I wouldn't be surprised if your fellow holiday makers were looking at your and yours and wondering why you all looked so sodding miserable whilst behaving 'appropriately'. Maybe you shouldn't travel or even leave your house if you are so easily offended.
Go long-haul. You don`t get any of that...(well apart from Florida probably)
At the risk of a backlash here, many kids today are uncontrolled. It's a result of each generation becoming more lenient/tolerant than the last, so the teaching of how to behave gets lost. Luckily some kids have personalities that mean they don't feel the need to act badly.

I think only the females here will know the dsifference between size 20 and 14. Is that inches or centimeters ? Anyway bikinis for the lot of you I say, and bully for those who discard part.

Yeah I'm not keen on tatoos neither but I don't think my potential desire for each male to be Adonis (and each woman Aphrodite) trumps their right to let it all hang out.

160 euros a night ? Probably makes little dent in the welfare payment :-D

zebo I was 'on' zakynthos not 'in it - I was in a small resort on the island which was supposed to be quiet.

Always avoid places that allow kids to run riot,
to be fair they've always got Butlins or Disney,
and they are truly welcome to both!
;o)

sherrak I don't understand your post. I don't 'usually' do anything, I've only posted a few things and certainly in the habit of making judgements. Despite the common fat loud-mouthed minority we had a great time and certainly didn't go around with a long face. I'm sorry but I think many people have the same opinion as me and are sometimes ashamed to be associated with this rabble. I think your post is much more judgemental and rude towards me than my original observational one.
