Cornish Pasties

I had a Cornish pasty last night but ended up spitting a lot of the out as it was full of fatty gristle. Can anyone recommend a shop bought Cornish pasty which has decent cuts of meat in it please :o)

I tend to find Ginsters is an adequate pasty maker, in the main. I think you must have got unlucky. There is a shop called the Cornish pasty company. You might look to see if there is one near you. Aside from that I don't know if one common store offering is better than another. What you really need is a palace that makes them on the premises by skilled local bakers, maybe.

I think there might be one of those in Victoria station, O_G. And as you can see, I'm not on a diet anymore :o(

You seem to be a bit bereft of shops...such as the West Cornwall Pasty Shop or Oggies. I can't vouch for Coughlans or there is the Croydon Pasty Co in th e Centrale Shopping Centre, Upper Mall. Nearest ones for the West Cornwall are Gatwick Terminals and Kingston........a bit too far!

I can probably make you green - pasties for lunch from the St Agnes Bakery - and they are delish...full of chuck meat (which is what Pasties should have in them....)

There's your mistake right there - never confuse Ginsters with a proper pasty!

St Agnes bakery does look good.

I made a Cornish pasty at school during home ec., years ago and I loved them. Bought them in the shops and they were nice back then as well. The quality is crap these days though.

The other varieties are ok. Ham & mushroom, ham & cheese etc. Even the steak ones are ok and have little or no gristle. Its just the Cornish ones that are awful.

If you don't like the shop bought ones why not make your own to your own specifications?
I'm not a pastie fan as all they are are stodge filled with crap but i did taste some nice jamaican patties from either tesco or sainsbury. They have beef, lamb saltfish and vegetables flavours and where quite the snack if i can remember rightly

I've had the Jamaican patties and they are nice. I just fancied something I'd eaten years ago and enjoyed.

I watched a programme a couple of weeks ago, Rip off Britain I think and they said something along the lines of, if a pasty is made outside Cornwall it cannot be classed as a Cornish pasty!

I wouldn't, although I think most could contain less fat, however it was the filling you described thus.
