Herbs And 'erbs.....

Which one of these pronounciations is correct. I personally think the latter sounds ridiculous. I would imagine it is how the French might pronounce it but don't think it has any place in the English pronounciation.

I was a teacher many years ago and that "haitch" used to drive me batty. It seem especially used in the lower years.

In general, vakayu, yes, that's rubbish. It's equivalent to stating that most English dislike the Scots.

My late husband was stopped on Brooklyn Bridge driving home after a night out (yes, naughty) only to be stopped by what he described as a travelling circus, lots of lights etc...He was asked for ID which he produced and answered a few questions.

The Policeman congratulated him on his English, at which point he replied 'I should ****** hop so we invented it' quite surprised he wasn't locked up.
